It is exciting every time a new Citizen Scientist on boards to contribute to the air quality data gap.
At Public Square, we believe that the most sustainable way to transform our city’s health is the ground-up approach.
That's why the portable monitor borrowing programme is entirely run by a couple of university students.
Our latest data reveals a beautiful trend, over 58% of our contributors are under the age of 30, with 54.2% falling in the 20-29 age bracket alone.
They are the ones mapping the "Mobility Gap" on their way to lectures, internships, runs around their universities, and social hubs, areas often missed by stationary monitors.
Why do we focus on the youth? Because when the younger generation is empowered to demand policy implementation, the change is sustainable. We aren't just cleaning the air for today, we are training the leaders who will ensure that "clean air is life" for generations to come.
We invite more students and young professionals to borrow a monitor, start a session, and help us build a breathable Kampala.
